7 Top Tips for Killer Sales Copy
Does the idea of writing a sales letter scare you? Many people out there have developed great products or services, but do not know how to 'sell' them to a prospect. They can rattle off the features of their product or service, but cannot create a sales letter to convince the prospect of the benefits of their product or service. Expert copywriters are expensive, and that is where this article comes in. If you cannot afford to pay for a copywriter, then here are 7 top tip to help your write a killer converting sales letter.
1. Be the customer as you write- This is by far the most important thing about your sales letter. You have tow write what people want to hear, not what you want to say. Benefits sell! Tell the prospect how and why your product or service will save them money, save them time or improve their lives.
2. Organize your letter- Don't ramble. Have a clearly defined introduction, main body and conclusion. The main body is where you show your prospects the reasons why your product or service is for them.
3. Make it easy to read- Don't use jargon or academic words (unless your target market will most likely understand them.) There is no quicker way to turn off a prospect.
4. Capture your reader's attention- Make your headline stand out and have subheadings throughout your sales letter. People are more likely to scan chunks of text online than to read each and every single word.
5. Get your reader's interested- Use the active voice to keep the reader reading. Use testimonials, case studies etc to make it relevant.
6. Make your readers want your product or service- Again, this goes back to ensuring that you speak in terms of benefits, not features.
7. Ask your readers to take action- It may sound weird, but it is best to assume that your readers are slightly stupid. They have been so wowed by your product and why it will benefit them, but you have to tell them exactly what to do. If you want them to email you, tell them. If they can purchase from your site tell them exactly where to click to purchase.
By implementing the tips mentioned above in your own sales copy, you should see an improvement in your conversion ratio from prospects to customers.
